CoeLux is a scientific breakthrough, a marriage of art and technology that for the first time allows you to reproduce, in a closed space, the physical effects and optical phenomena of natural light, specifically the refraction, diffusion and transmission of sunlight through the atmosphere.By combining three key elements - the latest in LED projection technology which reproduces sunlight's spectrum, a sophisticated optical system which mimics the sun's rays, and nanostructured materials that recreate in just a few millimeters the Rayleigh scattering process occurring in the atmosphere - CoeLux is able to recreate the experience of sun and sky and bring the outside world inside. The combined effect of this technology is the perception of a virtual infinite space enabling us to see, as if for the first time, the spectacular beauty of the outdoors.CoeLux is an EU funded research project under the 7th Framework Programme for research and development. The development of this lighting technology has also received funding from two other projects under the 7th Framework Programme, "SkyCoat" and "DeepLite", and from the 6th Framework Programme project "Stella”“CoeLux®” is the trademark of the technology, owned by the start-up company “CoeLux srl”.
